POSTAL STATIONARY "PUBLIBEL"
Are Postal Cards with on the front at the left hand side an advertisement (products or touristic),
printed in one or more colours. The advertisement was printed by the Belgian Agency of Post
"Publibel", exclusive concessionaire, on the cardboard sheets delivered by the stampworkroom
of Mechelen. Later, the stamp and the head of the postcard were printed in the workroom.
At the first years the profit from the publicity was for the unemployed workers and later
on for the Social Service of the Belgian Postal Service.
There are 2790 different "publibels" in existence which all have a specific advertisement.
Each postcard has a serial number at the foot of the card on the left side.
There are 9 "publibel"postcards in connection with playing cards.
